COVID 19 Vaccines Brought to You

We have a limited number of Moderna & Pfizer vaccines we can offer to people age 65+. Vaccines are administered safely in-home or on site by Dr John Horning, a veteran board certified emergency medicine physician.

This service includes an initial physician medical assessment by Dr. John via phone. An opportunity is provided for patients to have their questions answered and to learn about what to expect after vaccination. Confirmed patients are then scheduled. A series of questions and patient demographics must be entered in the CalVax online database, as required by California State for each administered vaccine. The doctor will then arrive at the patient's home at the prescheduled time, bringing the vaccine, along with medication and equipment for patient safety in case an allergic reaction develops after vaccination. Patients are observed by the doctor for 15-30 minutes after vaccine injection, and then the doctor departs once he feels that it is safe to do so. Serious allergic reactions to the Moderna vaccine are extremely rare (2.5 cases per million injections reported). The physician house call visit takes approximately 30-60 minutes. For learn more about COVID 19 vaccination, please see the CDC website.

Due to time requirements for this service including physician travel time and house call visit time, we are currently focused on offering vaccination to mobility challenged patients. The doctor may then return in 3 weeks (Pfizer) or 4 weeks (Moderna) to administer the second vaccine dose. Recipients are free to seek their second dose from other vaccination providers. They simply need to present their vaccine card provided at the time of the first vaccine dose administration. Currently, it is recommended to administer both doses using the same vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer), e.g. a person who receives the Moderna vaccine for the first dose must also be given the Moderna for the second dose.

The vaccine itself is provided free of charge by the US government. We do not charge for the vaccine itself. We may charge for our work and time required, including for travel, to get the vaccine delivered to patients safely and conveniently in their home. We will consider sliding scale payment options. We do not work with any insurance providers and cannot guarantee that insurers will cover this service.

Our vaccination service is currently limited to San Francisco County. We can only offer vaccines to people who qualify within the current phase of distribution as determined by the California Dept of Public Health and SF Dept of Public Health.

If you are a mobility challenged patient whom we have provided physician house call service previously, we will be contacting you soon to offer this service. However feel free to request our service directly by contacting us. If you have become mobility challenged since we last saw you, please let us know.

We hope to offer this service to others in the near future. Feel free to get on our list.
